St. Mark’s Cozy Home, Sg Buloh

OPEN DAY 2008

YB Dr A Xavier Jayakumar, EXCO Member cum Chairman, Permanent Committee on Health, Estate Workers, Poverty & Caring Government, Selangor, warmly graced St. Mark’s Cozy Home’s first Open Day, since its initial operations, in the afternoon of Saturday, 6 September 2008. About 150 church members, donors/supporters, staff and the public participated in the event. The Objectives of the Open Day included the following: To promote and publicize St. Mark’s Cozy Home, and its services and facilities to the community at large; and to raise fund towards the building costs (balance) and the initial operational expenses of the Home.

In his Opening Speech, YB Dr Jayakumar indicated that he was pleasantly surprised of Cozy Home’s services, and offered his assistance where required, e.g. applying for a nominal RM1.00 annual Quit Rent, and operational grant.

He was then led to a guided tour of the Home, led by Hon. Manager Andrew Lai, and accompanied by the Diocesan Bishop Ng Moon Hing, Home Board Chairman Bishop Tan Sri Lim Cheng Ean, Board Vice Chairman Peter Yuen and Board members.

All guests and attendees later shared a joyous time of fellowship at the Reception. Information and Sales Counters were then open and were well patronized. Donors were generous with their gifts for the donation boxes. The Selangor State Government had earlier contributed RM4,000.00 towards Cozy Home.

The Open Day was indeed a successful and meaningful event. Perhaps it will become an annual affair.
